The LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™, created by USGBC, is a voluntary building certification program that defines high-performance green buildings, which are more environmentally responsible, healthier, and more profitable structures. LEED was created to establish a common standard of measurement for what constitutes a “green” building. LEED serves as a design guideline for green building and offers third party validation of a building’s green features.
LEED's evaluates buildings in five areas: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality. Within these credit areas, points are available and depending on the number of points a project earns determines the level of certification the building will be awarded. There are four progressive levels of certification: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED addresses a variety of buildings and building project types through individualized systems, including:
In addition, LEED systems are in development for Campuses, Labs and Healthcare.

March 3, 2009 - Energy Service Solutions
Orlando, FL – Longwood based, Comprehensive Energy Services, Inc. (CES) is pleased to announce the launch of its new line of Energy Solutions Services aimed at helping building owners and managers lower operating costs, particularly in the area of energy. With its recent acquisition of theBuildingAdvice and Vykon/Tridium building automation system technologies, CES has vastly enhanced its detailed energy assessments of buildings, as well as estimated financial impact of proposed improvements. CES is uniquely positioned to help building owners and managers understand and then realize the best opportunities for energy cost savings.
“We believe that ‘Green’ is a strategy to increase profitability and asset value by lowering both operating costs and carbon footprint. Building owners and CFOs face rising operating costs and slowing rents. Our green building program will help. We are now able to provide an even greater economic value to our service customers because of our ability to solve energy problems and lower overall operating costs,” says Scott Wallick, CES Vice President of Service.
“Green buildings are clearly achieving higher rents and higher occupancy, they have lower operating costs, and they’re achieving higher sale prices,”says Andrew Florence, President and CEO CoStar, the #1 Commercial Real Estate Information Company.
Energy costs are the single largest controllable cost in most commercial buildings. Nationally, electric rates have increased over 20%+ over the past 3 years. Utilities, including electricity, now represent on average 40% – 60% of a building’s total operating costs.
CES’s Energy Solution process identifies energy savings opportunities, implements an appropriate action plan to achieve ROI (return on investment saving$) in a very straightforward and cost effective method.
